  • Nonprofit organizations that transition to solar energy and storage solutions could see several benefits:

    • Guarding against utility rate increases

    • Increases property values

    • Redirects savings to programs and services

    • Demonstrates leadership in caring for the planet and our resources

    • Inspires action among stakeholders

    • Addresses capital needs such as roof or lighting replacement

  • Yes! Nonprofit organizations can take advantage of various federal, state, and local incentives designed to encourage the adoption of solar energy, including Direct Pay reimbursement for clean energy projects offered through the Inflation Reduction Act. There may also be credits and incentives from utility companies, local or state governments, or other programs. These credits and grants can substantially offset the initial costs of solar panel and storage installation, making solar energy a more accessible option.

  • Mission Energy’s eight-step collaborative process walks clients through the entire project, step by step, starting with a consultation, analysis, and review. Mission Energy helps clients determine if solar energy is the right and wise option and then develops a customized plan, including project development, construction, and ownership options.

Our end-to-end project management allows clients to make informed decisions and approvals every step of the way, including final design, contractor selection, and financing preference.

  • The process takes approximately 12-18 months in its entirety, depending on many project variables. Mission Energy’s collaborative eight-step process takes clients from consultation through post-installation support.

Consultation: Mission Energy will meet with clients to understand needs, priorities and timelines, and discuss programs, facilities and current limitations.

Analysis & Review: Mission Energy will review utility bills and other facility data to understand current energy use. The Mission Energy team will meet with the client to present project options with potential economic impact, gather feedback, and determine next steps.

Secure Financing: Mission Energy will help identify, coordinate, and secure financing for the project, including leases and Power Purchase Agreements.

Project Development: Mission Energy will complete a site survey review, due diligence, and engineering work to ensure the proposed solution is appropriate for the site.

Select Subcontractors: Mission Energy will obtain bids from multiple local contractors/installers, vet them, and make recommendations.

Permits & Approvals: Mission Energy will manage the project’s regulatory requirements, including interconnection, permitting, zoning, and any applicable incentive programs or grants.

Manage Construction: Mission Energy will oversee the construction and installation process, testing and jurisdictional approvals, and final commissioning.

Post-Installation Support: Once installation is complete and the project is operational, Mission Energy provides ongoing operations and maintenance support, with regular audits and reports on the system’s production and your energy savings.

  • Great! Knowing a local contractor could help shorten the development steps. Because contractors vary in design, installation, procurement, and construction capabilities, we will include them in our initial analysis and bid process. If a client already has a relationship (or quote) with a contractor, Mission Energy can use that information as part of the competitive analysis to help the client make a final, informed decision on the contractor selection.

  • Solar can’t be installed on roofs in bad shape or nearing the end of their life expectancy. Mission Energy’s project managers are experienced in evaluating roof conditions in collaboration with local solar contractors. We can also consult with the client’s roofing contractor to judge whether roof repairs or replacement are needed first. Depending on local utility regulations, energy consumption, costs and other variables, Mission Energy may be able to secure financing for the roof replacement costs along with the solar construction costs.

  • Yes, it is possible to expand your existing solar energy system if your energy needs increase after the system is installed. Generally, you are able to evaluate the amount of energy produced and used within one or two years after a solar system is installed. If you notice your energy needs are increasing, Mission Energy can help determine how much to increase your solar system capacity with an analysis of your system’s historical data, utility electricity data, and specifics for any planned increase in energy usage (e.g., adding battery storage or electric vehicle (EV) chargers to your facility).

  • Yes! Mission Energy has experience helping organizations with numerous properties across the country transition to solar energy and storage solutions through a streamlined process.
