Development Manager
About Mission Energy: Mission Energy serves nonprofits nationally with clean energy solutions that advance their missions by designing, developing, financing, and managing the construction of solar, storage, and energy efficiency projects. We work to empower any nonprofit organization to implement and benefit from clean energy projects. Our team oversees the origination, development, and implementation of our projects by working with partners, investors, clients, and subcontractors. Our projects typically range in size from 100kW – 3MW.
About the Role: The Development Manager will lead project-specific efforts on all pre-construction work required to advance a project to Notice to Proceed (NTP). You will work closely with members of the Business Development and Operations teams to create and execute a plan to secure contracts with clients. You will also work closely with members of the Construction and Project Management teams to coordinate smooth handoffs once projects achieve NTP. This role is expected to regularly engage with our investment partners on third-party financed projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage a portfolio of projects and ensure that all required deliverables are completed on time and on budget, maintaining detailed, accurate records of all correspondence and documentation. Such deliverables include, but are not limited to:
· Site planning
· Interconnection applications and approvals
· Electrical and structural assessments and drawings
· Securing permits
· Environmental analysis including geotechnical, ALTA, wetlands, and stormwater studies
2. Manage contract process in close collaboration with Origination and Operations teams through responsibilities including:
· Drafting and negotiating contracts
· Coordinating with outside counsel as needed
· Developing and implementing company policies and procedures to optimize interrelated client proposal/quoting, bid package, and contract workflows
3. Maintain frequent communication with partners and clients to curate realistic stakeholder expectations; develop and execute client presentations as needed
4. Manage other tasks as required to complete development work
Background/Experience Requirements
· Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in engineering, business, or another renewable energy-related field
· 3+ years of proven experience in solar energy project development
· Expertise in managing Commercial & Industrial solar projects from origination to financial closing
· Strong financial acumen and familiarity with project finance concepts
· Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and build relationships with regulatory authorities
· Proficiency in project management tools and software along with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Knowledge of environmental and sustainability principles related to solar energy projects
· History of reaching revenue, margin, quotas, or other KPI targets for your company
· Experience using Zoho or other CRM tools to create, track, and manage project pipelines and tasks
Compensation
· $100,000 - $150,000 base + performance-based bonus

Location and Travel Requirements
· Remote within the continental U.S.
· Ability / willingness to travel for business meetings, etc.
